The Squad

The squad is the team of I.S.M.A.A students who are committed to Karate at competition level, and represent the academy in national events. The Squad train at special Squad training sessions which teach them how to compete in both Kata and Kumite and take their Karate to the next level. The Squad rely on fundraising activities to support the attendance at competitions. Click here for further details on fundraising. |

| Latest Squad News The Wado Cup, Leipzig Germany Sept 2011 Achtung!! A group of the Squad visited Deutschland to take part in this Wado Ryu competiton. Well done to all, bringing home 7 bronze and 1 silver medal. See the Photo Gallery! Western Karate Union Spring Invitational 1st May 2011 Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, Hutton Moor Road, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, BS22 8LY Another great day for the Squad, who brought home 3 medals. Congratulations to everyone who competed, and an extra well done to Harry Tayor (silver), Zoe Conway (bronze), and Lorraine Clark (silver). Sport Karate Academy Kumite Open 10th April 2011 The Squad travelled to Croydon Sports Club, Old Farleigh Road, Selsdon, South Croydon, CR2 8YB for this Kumite Open competition. Well done to everyone who took part, medals were brought home by Sophie Clark in the individual event (Silver), and Harry Taylor, Ryan Clark, and David Lyons in the team event (Bronze). See the Photo Gallery! British International Karate Open January 2011 9 medals brought home this time from the K2 Leisure Centre Crawley at this truly international competition. See the Photo Gallery! Karate England National Championships 13th November 2010 Great results from the Squad again with 10 medals brought home! Kata - various events by age and weight. 2nd Place Medal Winners : Sophie Clark 3rd Place Medal Winners : Jason North, Elliot Watkins Kumite - various events by age and weight : 3rd Place Medal Winners : Phoebe Lanham, Charlie Henley, Sophie Clark, Harry Taylor, Ryan Clark, Amber Sands, Jason North. UMA British Karate Championships 9th October 2010 Great results - the extended team travelled to Stoke for this competition, and brought home many medals. FEKO Children and Cadets Open National Karate Championships 13th June 2010 2 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze trophy taken at the FEKO 2010 Children and Cadets Open National Karate Championships in Nottingham on Sunday 13th June 2010.
Well done to the whole squad - you all represented the club perfectly! Karate England National Championships 14th November 2009 Our second national tournament of the year, travelling to Sheffield to take part in the annual Karate England tournament. Well done to everyone who took part, and especially Zoe for getting a silver medal in Kumite. See the Photo Gallery! FEKO Children and Cadet National Open Karate Championships 8th June 2009 Our first national tournament of the year, the squad took the 3 hour journey to Nottingham to take part in the annual FEKO tournament. 7 trophies were taken home by the club - a fantastic achievement to all who took part at The Harvey Hadden Sports Stadium, Nottingham.
